Welcome to the August 2026 newsletter of the Arts for Good Foundation. This month, we would like to congratulate 17-year-old curator Ethan Hui, who curated Between Places in collaboration with the Arts for Good Foundation. Between Places explores how young artists understand the spaces that shape them. How homes, schools, cities, objects, and memories influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us. Bringing together young artists from Hong Kong and the United Kingdom working across both cities, the exhibition highlights a shared preoccupation with belonging: what we carry, what we leave behind, and how a place keeps living within us after we've long left it behind. Through painting, drawing, photography, digital art, and mixed media, Between Places considers the distance between where we come from and where we belong, the in-between places that hold memories and make us who we are. We are thrilled that 14 out of 16 artworks were sold at the exhibition, and we are grateful that all proceeds will directly support Arts for Good's educational and community projects starting in the Fall of 2026, continuing to empower diverse communities through a wide array of artistic mediums.

On the Water, 2026
Thanks to the generous support from ALTA Capital Real Estate, we are delighted to offer a two-day collaborative art creation experience to a total of 30 students from the New Home Association in Sham Shui Po, half of whom belong to ethnic minority communities living in Hong Kong.
The highlight of the two-day session was the afternoon creative journeys which continued the “Traveling on the Water” theme from our morning museum visit. The creative process started with the visual scene outside a Sham Shui Po window as the children's starting point, using "boat" as a connecting medium between the present and the faraway, and between the seen and the imagined in the city. These prompts served as anchors for the children’s connection to their daily lives, surrounding community and unique life experiences, supporting their creative expression towards new and unbounded possibilities.
We deeply appreciate the support from ALTA Capital Real Estate, which helped bring to fruition these wonderful experiences filled with laughter and creative freedom, while fostering a deeper connection to our home, Hong Kong—a city built on water, bridging the East and the West.

Arts-Integrated English Language Learning
Driven by our core belief in Connected Learning, our summer community service project reimagined language learning by bridging cultural heritage, creative inquiry, and youth-led community service. In partnership with the New Home Association, a multi-disciplinary youth cohort co-designed and facilitated eight immersive and arts-integrated learning sessions for over 30 students who truly enjoyed the experiences.
This project connected personal growth with English language learning through diverse creative entry points: home imagination using traditional Chinese ink painting to surface unique lived experiences; heritage-inspired transfer printing to recontextualize historic visual patterns into modern expressions through costume design; sponge painting to conceptualize "bridges" as metaphors for cross-cultural connection; and devised mini-dramas to activate authentic and expressive English literacy.
A defining highlight of this connected learning project was the intentional synthesis of material culture, creative expression, and language practice. Students transformed local archaeological tile carving motifs into transfer prints to construct original puppet characters for their mini drama, effectively connecting historical visual heritage with personal storytelling.
Throughout the project, youth facilitators from four different disciplines worked collaboratively to differentiate approaches, providing creativity-driven, small-group facilitation and trilingual support to ensure an inclusive, high-impact language learning journey for the young beneficiaries.

歡迎閱讀 Arts for Good Foundation 2026年8月簡訊。本月，我們要向17歲的學生策展人 許百賢 表示祝賀，他與Arts for Good Foundation 攜手合作，成功策劃展覽 城市之間。城市之間 探討了年輕藝術家如何理解塑造他們的空間——家庭、學校、城市、物品和記憶如何影響他們看待自身及周圍世界的方式。本次展覽匯聚了往返香港與英國兩地創作的年輕藝術家，共同展現他們於「歸屬感」的情感：我們帶走了什麼，留下了什麼，以及當我們離開某個城市之後，這個城市如何繼續在我們的生命中延續。通過繪畫、素描、攝影、數字藝術及混合媒介等形式，城市之間 探討了來處與歸處之間的距離——即那些承載著塑造我們獨立個體記憶的“中間地帶”。我們非常高興此次展覽展出的16件藝術作品中有14件成功售出，對此我們深表感恩，本次銷售所得將全數投入 Arts for Good 於2026年秋季啟動的教育及社區專案，持續運用多元藝術形式賦能多元社群。

水上旅程 2026
承蒙 ALTA Capital Real Estate的慷慨支持，我們很高興能為來自深水埗新家園協會（New Home Association）的 30 名學生提供為期兩天的藝術共創體驗；其中半數學生來自本港少數族裔社群。
這兩天活動的亮點是下午的合作創意之旅。 該創作延續了上午博物館內 「水上旅程」的主題探索，學生們透過深水埗一副窗戶所見的景象為起點，並以「船」作為連接媒介，連接當下與遠方、連接城市實景與想像世界。這些提示將學生與日常生活、周邊社區及獨特的人生經歷連結起來，支持他們發揮創造力進行獨特自我表達，從而探索各種嶄新且無限的可能性。
我們衷心感謝 ALTA Capital Real Estate 的支持，讓我們得以享受這段充滿歡聲笑語與創意自由的美好體驗，並加深了學生對香港這座依水而建、連接東西方文化的家園的情感連結。

藝術融合式英語語言學習
秉持對「互聯學習」理念，我們的暑期社區服務專案融合文化傳承、創意探索與青年主導的社區服務，重塑英文學習的新模式。這個項目由一組跨學科青年團隊與 新家園協會（New Home Association）合作，為30多名學生而設計。我們的青年團隊帶領八場融合藝術的沉浸式英文學習體驗，現場笑聲融融。
該專案通過多種富有創意的切入點，將個人成長故事與英語學習深刻連結：以「家」為想像主題，透過中國傳統水墨畫呈現獨特的生活經歷；開展非遺拓印創作體驗，把傳統瓦雕紋樣重新詮釋，轉化為現代服飾設計；採用創意海綿繪畫，將「橋樑」構想為跨文化連接的隱喻；以及通過即興微型短劇，激發真實且富有表現力的英語語言運用能力。
該互聯學習專案的一個顯著亮點，在於將物質文化、創意表達與語言實踐進行了有機融合。學生們將考古發現的瓦雕紋樣轉化為轉印圖案，以此構建出原創木偶角色，用於演繹微型短劇，有效地將歷史視覺遺產與個人敘事聯繫了起來。
在整個專案期間，來自四個不同學科領域的青年通力合作，為學生實施多元且差異化學習體驗，透過創意為主導的小組創作，並提供兩文三語現場支援，確保學生受益者獲得具包容性且高影響力的創意表達學習體驗。
