Creative Exploration for Social Impact
Through a New Art Form:
Seal Carving (篆刻)
One of the core spirits of Arts for Good is our commitment to being a highly creative and collaborative organization that engages young generations, prompting them to explore new possibilities for the betterment of our society. In the past four years, we have successfully connected younger generations and community members through a wide array of art forms such as Textile, Textile Performance Art, Indian Folk Art, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Illustration, Printmaking (etching and woodcut), Photography, Installation, Sound Art, Poetry, Collage, and Documentaries and Short Films.
We firmly believe that the arts, in their various forms, act as a catalyst that shapes the perspectives and values that younger generations adopt on their personal and professional journeys. More importantly, these art projects have engaged young artists and individuals from the Philippines, India, Mainland China, Hong Kong, USA, UK, Indonesia, Mexico, Nepal and other countries. We believe Arts for Good are creating beautiful stories of Hong Kong that are contributing to a more diverse and inclusive future for the city.
In 2025, we are embarking on a fresh creative exploration and learning journey in collaboration with seal carving artist Cheng Qian and three master degree's students specializing in seal carving at the China Academy of Art. Taking into account the distinct artistic, educational, historical, and social values that seal carving integrates, our exploration centers on its meanings to Hong Kong and its significance for younger generations. Additionally, we aim to investigate the significance of seal carving for youths and explore how it can drive sustainability in the Hong Kong's social context.
We are actively seeking partnerships to drive meaningful learning experiences and achieve creative outcomes. As in all of our creative endeavours, our ultimate goal is to nurture and empower younger generations to contribute to Hong Kong’s role as the East and West Culture Hub by fostering a shared sense of inclusivity through meaningful, sensory-rich, expressive, and reflective learning experiences with the arts.
