Arts for Good Foundation Newsletter
August 2025

Summer Community Service, 2025
New Home Association, Sham Shui Po
Welcome to the August 2025 newsletter of the Arts for Good Foundation. This month, I have the pleasure of leading a total of seven summer interns in our summer community service program, which supports English learning and writing through artistic and creative visual projects. Over seven weeks, we worked closely with 37 upper primary students from the New Home Association in Sham Shui Po and the Caritas Mok Cheung Sui Kun Community Centre in Kennedy Town.

We are committed to curating more meaningful and engaging learning experiences for Hong Kong’s younger generations. We firmly believe that integrating the arts with diverse learning experiences and disciplines can nurture and inspire young minds to perceive and embrace beauty while also driving sustainable positive change. This embodies our talent development vision, which is rooted in local culture and global citizenship and fosters cross-sector collaboration and communication for inclusive and transformative learning and civic experiences.

We remain steadfast in our efforts to advance our initiatives with key stakeholders and collaborators, amplifying our voice and increasing our impact, strength, and inspiration year after year. As part of these efforts, in the next two months we are thrilled to unveil our new Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Exhibition, which will focus on people, diverse cultural identities, and deeper exploration of inclusiveness.

Best regards,

'Walls Between Us"
Arts-Integrated Learning Support in English and Creative Writing

We are thrilled to have concluded the third round of the Arts-Integrated Learning Support in English and Creative Writing Project with seven interns and two returning volunteers. We are immensely proud of our young collaborators, who joined us from various disciplines and worked collaboratively with us to deliver the interactive, creative, and enjoyable project "Walls Between Us" for 37 students aged 9 to 13 at two NGO community centers.

"Walls Between Us" aims to explore and convey multicultural perspectives through the visual motifs of walls in Nigeria, the USA, Germany, Mainland China, and Hong Kong. By examining the concept of walls - both physical and metaphorical - the project seeks to foster understanding and dialogue across different cultures and communities while enhancing the English language and creative writing skills of frontline NGO beneficiaries.

The beauty of the arts-integrated learning approach lies in its accessibility, particularly for students with diverse learning needs and levels. By employing simple language and vivid imagery, we engage them in hands-on experiences that connect them with the language, supporting their learning while tapping into their feelings and fostering creative expression.

This project has once again strengthened our belief in our integrated approach. More importantly, the learning process encourages creative thinking and unique expression while nurturing imagination and creativity in an inclusive and caring manner. Under the relatively flexible structure, we are pleased to see students more confident in expressing themselves in English and demonstrating increasingly positive attitudes towards learning, as we continue to foster deeper emotional connections and promote inclusivity throughout the artistic projects.

歡迎閱讀 Arts of Good 2025 年 8 月的簡報。
