Testing Colors on "You Are My Pearl 2012", 2025
Artist: Tong Zhou Lafrance
China Academy of Art
Welcome to the September 2025 newsletter of the Arts for Good Foundation. As we approach the month of October, I am excited to announce the opening of our Cultural Diversity Exhibition in partnership with Manulife Financial Asia Limited.

As a social impact professional and curator, I am honored to present the exhibition "You Are My Pearl", alongside two inspiring workshops with Manulife Financial Asia Limited, one on Nepalese Silam Sakma weaving and another on Indian block printing.

Notably, this exhibition was brought to life by a dynamic team of young individuals, all under the age of 25, from various institutions under our stewardship.  We take pride in leading this talented group of young people who share their passion and commitment to Arts for Good, and continuously driving creativity, arts and meaningful social impact with us.

Best regards,

"You Are My Pearl" : From Childhood Memories to Diverse Harmony
Global Diversity Awareness Month

"You Are My Pearl" marks our new exhibition in collaboration with Manulife Financial Asia Limited. The exhibition opens on the 2nd of October, and can be viewed across three locations:

  • The 22nd floor of the Manulife Finance Center in Kwun Tong.
  • The lobby and 21st floor of the Manulife Tower in Kwun Tong.

"You Are My Pearl" is a visual narrative that begins with the life journey of Tong Zhou Lafrance, a young artist who was adopted as an infant from a village in China and raised in a French community in Canada. The works on display are part of the artist's profound quest to explore her multicultural and ethnic identities through academic and artistic endeavors at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China.

Tong's story serves as an introduction to artworks by Sharu Binnong Sikdar (Hong Kong/The Philippines), Katrina Leigh M. Raimann (Hong Kong/The Philippines), Karen Lai (Hong Kong), Phuttaraksa Sapapa (Thailand), Erina Tamrakar (Nepal), and photography works by Gordon Watson (Hong Kong/UK).

The exhibition presents a rich tapestry of multicultural perspectives shaped by each artist's cultural background, travel experiences and unique life stories. It invites viewers to discover new insights into interconnectivity, to celebrate the beauty of diversity, and to embrace the authenticity of people and inclusion.

We deeply value the beauty, resilience, and harmony that emerge when we allow the diversity of cultural identities in our communities to unfold in a natural and authentic manner. During Global Diversity Awareness Month, we invite you all to join us to celebrate the unique stories and embrace a spirit of diversity and inclusion to help engender a broader vision for the future of Hong Kong.

歡迎閱讀 Arts for Good Foundation 2025年9月的通訊。
