From "You Are My Pearl" Exhibition 2025
Welcome to the October 2025 newsletter of the Arts for Good Foundation.  This month, I am honored to share part of my personal journey for “100 Stories of Hong Kong,“ a community storytelling project by photography artist Kevin Leung. This project celebrates moments of love, loss, hope, dreams, and the simple beauty found in everyday life in Hong Kong. The exhibition will be held this November at Kubrick and Broadway Cinematheque in Yau Ma Tei. I am truly humbled to be part of this inspiring collection.

My story is rooted in the richness of Chinese heritage and vibrancy of folk art, which deeply influenced my earliest memories and values I hold. My exploration and learning of both Eastern and Western contemporary art has continuously broadened my perspectives, and helped foster openness, empathy, and curiosity about the world. This reflective learning process through and with the arts allowed me to deeply experience how art and storytelling powerfully connect people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life, and inspire fresh and diverse perspectives to interpret personal and social challenges and opportunities.

Fifteen years ago, I arrived in Hong Kong and became increasingly captivated by its unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures, along with its rich diversity of stories within its communities. This insight led me to found Arts for Good Foundation as a vehicle for nurturing and supporting young talent from diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Our mission is to help them discover a deeper sense of inclusiveness and belonging in Hong Kong and, more importantly, to inspire them to contribute — each in their own unique way— to the city’s vibrant social and cultural landscape as the East-meet-West hub.

Cultural Experiences: Nepalese Silam Sakma Weaving and Indian Block Printing

Alongside the exhibition "You Are My Pearl" in partnership with Manulife Financial Asia Limited, we were thrilled to engage 28 corporate members in experiencing Nepalese Silam Sakma Weaving with artist Begha Nanda Kumari, and Sustainable Paint Making and Indian Block Printing with artist Sharu Binnong Sikdar. All of these initiatives are part of Global Diversity Awareness month in October.

We are all grateful for the wonderful learning and co-creation with youth from institutions, artists of multicultural backgrounds, and corporation members. We look forward to future chapters together, for our shared vision of diversity and inclusion, and to supporting talent development and talent retention for a more inclusive Hong Kong.

New Progress on the "Better City, Better Life" Project

We are delighted to share new development in our signature "Better City, Better Life" project. Building on the Kwun Tong Charter launched earlier this year, we are now creating a Sham Shui Po chapter inspired by the classic Chinese painting Along the River During Qingming Festival. Curated for schools and NGOs in the Sham Shui Po area, we warmly invite organizations and individuals to contribute to this chapter and join our efforts.

Looking ahead in the coming festival season, we plan to partner with corporate members to co-create unique visual stories for vulnerable families within our community. We will harness oracle bone script to bring these holiday season stories to life, spreading joy, love and care and promoting a deeper sense of community in our city.

This initiative integrates cross-cultural creativity and visual storytelling with purposeful community outreach. We believe positive outcomes of this chapter will bring as we continue our journey with our exiting and potential collaborators, working toward a better Hong Kong and a better Life.

歡迎閱讀 Arts for Good Foundation 2025 年 10 月通訊。
