The CHAT Summer Programme 2021 Yee I-Lann: Until We Hug Again
Welcome to the September 2023 newsletter from the Arts for Good Foundation. This month, we are delighted to welcome a group of students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)'s creative writing class to join us in exploring the power of poetry aiming for social impact. We are also excited to reintroduce a couple of projects that we initiated in 2021 catering to sustainable professionals, schools and representatives of social impact organisations.

Time is a crutial element of our Theory of Change framework, as we strongly believe in continuous performance improvement as well as sustainable engagement with our stakeholders. We are driving incremental changes that add up into long term impact. As a dedicated change agent, we are committed to initiating new projects and enhancing the existing ones, all with the goal of contributing to a more diverse and inclusive future in Hong Kong that we all look forward to.

Best regards,
Change Maker,
Founder & Director

Storytelling through the Lens of a Film Camera

We are excited to re-introduce our Storytelling Through the Lens of a Film Camera project to German Swiss International School (GSIS) as part of their extracurricular programme. We will guide a group of students in exploring the heritage and art in Hong Kong through the unique perspective of film cameras. Additionally, we will facilitate and guide them in creating their own "Story of Hong Kong" portfolio that reflects their own personal experiences in the city.

This project, previously known as "Sham Shui Po Still Sham Shui Po" was co-created in 2021 with artist, community researcher and PhD candidate Marty Miller. It has already benefited over 80 students from both local and international schools. Our goal is to continue introducing the importance of storytelling with diverse perspectives to more schools in Hong Kong. We also hope to collaborate with more frontline teachers and community-based learning coordinators to benefit their students.

Seven Art in MTR Videos Scheduled to Release

We are excited to announce that seven videos of Art in MTR, created in collaboration with 32 university students, are scheduled for release on October 5th 2023. These videos will be available on the Art in MTR website, with highlight teasers or video links on MTR Facebook, MTR Mobile, and MTR LinkedIn. The general public is invited to watch the videos online and enjoy the Art in MTR artworks installed at different MTR stations.

This initiative reinforces our commitment to engaging young people as learners and advocates for arts and culture, promoting public good in Hong Kong. We are dedicated to supporting and guiding young people in Hong Kong as they tell and retell stories that are meaningful to their lives in Hong Kong.

"Written Warp" Showcased at The ESG Innovation Lab at The Executive Center

After two and half years of dedication, and with special thanks to The Executive Centre and Dream Impact, we are thrilled to share our story of “Written Warp” with the corporate sustainable professionals and social impact representatives at the grand opening of The ESG Innovation Lab in central.

Written Warp was our first youth participatory project with Katrina Leigh M. Raimann, a Filipino Hong Kong artist, as we delved into the exploration of new dimensions of human connection amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 era at The Mills.

Over a span of seven months with many challenges, we involved a total of 50 youths in a making journey, enabling them to deeply experience and explore the profound tension, interaction, and dynamic interplay that resonated within all of us during those challenging times. Through our efforts, we collaboratively crafted the artwork "Written Warp," which resonates deeply with each individual within our communities.

We are committed to continue to work creatively and collaboratively, to bring more impactful projects to our communities and to seek share values for all of our stakeholders of Arts for Good Foundation. In longer time span, we strive to contribute to the betterment of our society through the transformative power of the arts.
