Newsletter from Arts for Good Foundation - December 2022
Welcome to the December newsletter of Arts for Good Foundation. This month, I am grateful for the timely support from Chicago Booth's social impact hub, Rustandy Center. which has chosen the Arts for Good Foundation as one of their ten beneficiaries of their Global Launchpad Program 2022/2023. This intensive learning and coaching programme is supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Programme on Social Innovation and provides practical training sessions delivered by the faculties of University of Chicago. The sessions are designed to help selected social ventures position themselves for scalability and to deliver sustainable impact. Thanks to this timely support, we will launch a new version of Theory of Change in January 2023 as we are preparing an eight-minute editorial pitch to share with key stakeholders.

As 2022 comes to a close, we would like to send our deepest gratitude to all our friends and supporters of the Arts for Good Foundation. We wish everyone a happy holiday season.

Best regards,
Amanda H Sun

Showcase: Wrap-up of the Covid Years

To wrap up our developments over the past two-plus years, we are delighted to present two 3D renderings which showcase our past projects and artworks selected from our collaborating artists. We are grateful for the outstanding support from architect James Law and his team at Cybertecture, designer Shruti Sharatt and architect Rajashree Sharath for their creative input to realise  these presentations.

We are proud of what we have achieved during the Covid years. We were able to develop some innovative prototype projects and we look forward to further  opportunities to form partnerships and collaborate to harness the social power of the arts for the betterment of society.

Arts for Good Foundation Listed in HKCSS's Social Enterprise Directory

We are pleased to have been listed on the Social Enterprise Directory (Eng/Chi) maintained by the Social Enterprise Business Center, which was jointly funded by the Hongkong Bank Foundation, the Social Welfare Department’s Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS).

We are delighted to receive this credential and be a small part of this landscape of organisations committed to social good. We believe it will help us further fulfil our social responsibilities, incubate future collaborations with public and private partners and receive holistic support. We are committed to remaining a non-profit entity while striving to grow and sustain our operations without solely relying on philanthropic support. Ultimately, we remain committed to creating long-term, sustainable and positive impact in Hong Kong.

Art Viewing Education Programme - Content Development

We are excited to continue developing content for the Art Viewing Education Project 2023. We sincerely thank the three young videographers and editors (i.e. Hei Tung Cheung, Wilson Chan Ho Wai, and Rue He), and two poetry enthusiasts (i.e. Eugene Yung Chian and Alexandra Lo), who contributed their time and effort this month.

We would also like to extend a note of thanks for all the support we received for our video making: Ming Fay - Journey into Nature (courtesy of Alisan Fine Arts), on hong kong by anothermountainman (courtesy of Lucie Chang Fine Arts and artist anothermoutainman), as well as Luis Chan Flagship Exhibition (courtesy of the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Luis Trust). We engage youths in the video making process while learning and reflecting through arts. The finished videos are used solely for education purpose for beneficiaries of different ages with different learning needs. We hope to collaborate with more public and private exhibitors in the future, to advocate art through our Art Integrated Learning process , which helps to educate children and youth while also contributing to our long-term goals of strengthening Hong Kong's social fabric.

Tech Support from Popsible Hong Kong

We are thrilled to have support from Popsible Hong Kong, which is a leading Web 3.0 and blockchain company based in Hong Kong. With the help of technology, we are launching our Student NFT cards and Volunteer NFT cards for every student and volunteer who participates in and contribute to the Arts for Good Foundation. These NFTs are a token of our appreciation for their engagement and contributions to our development. The four NFT artworks were contributed by Chinese Calligraphy artist Katrina Mo (IG: momographyhouse).

In a longer run, this blockchain technology will theoretically enable us to evaluate the growth and changes of our beneficiaries as they work towards their personal creative, educational and professional visions. We hope to glean data-based insights to the long-term benefits that we are creating "with the arts" and "through the arts" for future generations of Hong Kong. With this technology, we will also hope to be able to better track and understand the data that measures the ongoing impacts as our student beneficiaries and volunteers grow with us.

Media Manipulation 2022 - Post Production Completed

We are delighted to announce that all the post-production of the short film Media Manipulation 2022 has been completed. We would like to congratulate a total of 24 young creative talents who contributed to the film. The visual impact of the the silence film was dramatically amplified by sound effects contributed by an anonymous sound designer and mucisian from Hong Kong. Thanks also for support from Haylee Han, who is currently applying to present the film at a handful of short film festivals. We also hope to be able to premier the short film with partners in Hong Kong.
