Arts for Good Foundation Newsletter
February 2025

Welcome to the February 2025 newsletter of the Arts for Good Foundation. This month, when the Hangzhou-based DeepSeek sparks a groundbreaking wave in innovation worldwide, I was inspired to explore their concept of community-centric innovation and the vision of Human-AI co-intelligence - emphasizing ethical co-creation for societal well-being and common good. From an educational perspective, Arts for Good firmly believes that true creativity and innovation are not driven purely by commercial interests or short-term transactional materialistic gains. Instead, they require heart-driven curiosity, dedication and inclusive mindset of creating and promoting the greater good.  In the AI era, Arts plays a pivotal role in education to nurture future talents with emotional intelligence and creative thinking. With vitality and resilience, young individuals should devote themselves to endeavors that originate from their hearts, passion, feelings, and meanings - all qualities that machines lack. Through and with the beauty of the arts, young people are educated to prioritize ethics and positive common values for the good of others over all else.

When asked "who is DeepThink" (DeepThink is the reasoning model of DeepSeek), DeepSeek responded that "DeepThink is a fictional, next-generation AI concept to explore potential societal and technological impact, emphasizing innovation, ethical integration and cross-cultural collaboration"*.

Learning from the "fiction" of "DeepThink", Arts for Good is dedicated to continuing to create more with less through our collaborative efforts and community-centric creative endeavors. In doing so, we hope to help nurture more future generations of deep thinkers in Hong Kong and beyond.

Better City, Better Life: “Along the River During Qingming Festival - Kwun Tong”- Part 2: Kwun Tong Maryknoll College (KTMC)

Music is the poetry of sounds, and painting is the poetry of sights. We are delighted to emotionally engage with over 130 students through our unique visual storytelling of "Along the River During Qingming Festival". It is gratifying to receive the students sharing their thoughts and feelings through our inquiry-based learning exercise, clearly demonstrating how art engagement develops higher order thinking and deepens visual interpretation skills.

We are also proud that Arts for Good has created to build a bridge between this classic painting with the modern world in Hong Kong for young students to experience on daily basis. To continue the project in March, students will be guided to the Kwun Tong community to observe, to collect visual documentation that will be subsequently used to form ideas and to create interpretive artworks for their school.

The meaningful learning process encourages real life observation, seeks to explore micro and macro perspectives on the communities, fosters reflection, and inspires creativity. On our journey, we will continue to advocate for our creative learning approach and the significant meanings and impacts of our creation to a wider range of youth in Hong Kong.

Digital Learning Integrated with Arts and Storytelling

We are thrilled to continue collaborating with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) to deliver a digital learning initiative aimed at bridging Eastern and Western cultures through powerful visual storytelling and creative digital projects. We are excited about the vision of the project and eager to collaborate with a diverse range of cultural experts and insightful young individuals to achieve our shared goal of having a sustainable impact on our community through education.

Arts for Good Foundation 2025
歡迎閱讀 Arts for Good Foundation 2025 年 2 月的通訊。
