Arts for Good Foundation Newsletter
April 2025
"The Sentient World"
Rubber, Watercolor
Artist: Lilin
Welcome to the April 2025 newsletter of the Arts for Good Foundation. This month, as we continue to develop our "Better City, Better Life" initiative, we are actively seeking and forming collaborations to co-create impact. Our social entrepreneurial journey is guided by a key goal: advocating for and providing authentic and creative learning processes through collaborations across academia, industry, and community in the realm of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) under the overarching pillar of sustainability.

On the creativity side, we are pleased to support and contribute to the community creative series of "Her Story" initiated by printmaking and ceramic artist Lilin. "Her Story" focuses on gathering the stories of ordinary women in Hong Kong through printmaking and other creative mediums. This initiative aims to present fresh and diverse perspectives on women's lives in Hong Kong from different communities, promoting multi-dimensional reflection and reshaping the narrative on gender equity within distinctive and diverse cultural landscapes.

Cinematic Stories: Behind Hong Kong Street Signs
Chinese International School
Art Week 2025

We are thrilled to maintain our 5th year of partnering with the Chinese International School (CIS) for their Art Week, offering a unique learning experience under the International Baccalaureate (IB) film making programme. In today's complex world, we strongly resonate with CIS's vision of fostering life-long learners at the confluence of East and West. These generations of learners will discover new paths, build bridges, foster connections and flourish on individual's life paths. We are dedicated to collaborating with and learning from CIS and all the collaborating higher institutions to continually enhance our learning processes and creative pursuits. Our ultimate goal aims to positively impact on a wider spectrum of youth from the diverse communities in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s street signs, with their distinctive bilingual typography and cultural charm, transcend their role as mere navigational tools—they serve as vibrant storytellers of the city's rich history and cultural identities. Nestled amidst the skyscrapers and bustling markets, these bilingual signs embody a unique blend of East and West influence, reflecting Hong Kong’s colonial past and its dynamic present. They are an iconic visual lexicon that has become synonymous with the city’s unique culture. Beyond aesthetics, these signs symbolize Hong Kong’s resilience, transformation and adaptability that have often been overlooked.

In this project, we will lead a group of young individuals from CIS to document the street signs on Hong Kong Island, and craft compelling narratives that revolve around these cultural landmarks. Through digital storytelling and filmmaking, we aim to help them forge deeper personal connections with Hong Kong's vibrant cultural signs. This project will enable them to construct the thought-provoking narratives that bridge the past and future of our city through their unique reinterpretation and retelling of the street signs.

 Arts-Integrated Learning Support
in English and Creative Writing

We are thrilled to embark on our 3rd round of collaboration with the Department of English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for our Arts-integrated Learning Support in English and Creative Writing project. We are excited to extend the outreach of the program to our collaborating community center. In this new phase of community outreach, we will persist in integrating diverse artistic and creative mediums  to support and facilitate children in the English learning and creative writing. By fostering creative thinking processes, we aim to empower young learners and expand their positive learning attitude and capabilities.

Arts for Good Foundation 2025
歡迎閱讀 Arts for Good Foundation 2025 年 4 月通訊。
