Welcome to the May 2021 newsletter from Arts For Good Foundation. The art scene in Hong Kong this month has been vibrant and we are grateful to take part in the creative happenings in this city. We're also proud to share our good work guided by our social mission of fostering social inclusion through the soft power of arts and culture.

Experiential learning through Photographs from the 1950s

Culture is the sum of the roads we all come through together . Culture is inclusive and cohesive . It is what makes who we are and how we connect with each other .

We are more than grateful for the 1950s photography exhibition by Sino Group. It was such a great opportunity to allow us share our values and belief with 12 youths from CIS, 52 children from GSIS, and 60 children from 2 public schools at Tin Shui Wai and Kwun Tong.

Through storytelling, object observations and  on-site facilitation, we intended to bring the children to look at Hong Kong in historical perspectives  , and encouraged them to think how the past resonates today, and what has changed us, what made us today, and how we dream our future . We hoped to evoke their cultural sensitivities and raise their culture responsibility as individual locals, as new immigrants, and as in our community, so that we will have our better future with those who deeply appreciate our past.

As we deeply believe children are the core of an apple for our community. We are hoping our good work could benefit more children with corporate supports, particularly to benefit the ones from marginalised communities, in order to foster our deep belief in social inclusion through the soft power of arts and culture.

Ink City Guided Tour at Tai Kwun

Arts for Good Foundation strives to nurture our future generations with perspectives from Hong Kong and around the world. Through storytellings about iconic contemporary artists using the medium of Chinese ink, we help them broaden their perspectives toward ink painting. They have learned the new experience and new experiments by the contemporary Chinese ink artists, and how the artists deliver their social voices using the traditional medium with their own contemporary creation. We encourage them to seek inspirations from the origin of themselves and look at tradition with new perspectives through their own eyes and with their own creation.

Textile & Performance Art supported by the Mills

We are deeply grateful to announce that our featured textile performance art have been supported by the Mills. We will be part of the public art exhibition at the Mills during the summer. Through our performance art, we aim to help the public reflect on the human relationships through different tensions, distances, and contacts in the process of making. Through the storytelling by our featured artist who is a Filipino, raised by a Swiss-Filipino family, and grew up in Hong Kong, we hope our children and the audiences will appreciate the beautify of diversity in Hong Kong's cultural scene, and how we connect with each other in this diverse and vibrant city.

Art Basel Educational Tours

We are so thankful to be offered with the opportunities with Art Basel's show in Hong Kong, for the youths we serve.

The students from 6 different schools were guided in a bilingual setting, and had their first hand experience with onsite art interns, discussing with the artists directly, connecting with some artworks and the thinking philosophy behind them.

Through the educational tours, we intended to open their way to see art, to think from multiple perspectives, to connect with people, art and cultures from diverse backgrounds, and to seek their own-ness and possibilities to look at the world in their creation, and maybe in life.

No matter where we live, how we grow up, we all have our own stories to tell and to share with others. Art is meant to be enjoyed, is the medium to connect, and to be simply inclusive.

Art Central Guided Tour

Arts For Good Foundation is an impact driven social enterprise with the mission of fostering social inclusion through soft power of arts and culture. We would like to thank Art Central VIP department for the offer of the private tour for our supporters. Without the huge support from the community, it wouldn't have been possible to achieve what we have achieved within such a short period of time. We are hoping to gain more support from the community, schools, and corporates, so we could continue our good work to benefit more children and youth in Hong Kong, for a better and inclusive future for us all.
