August Newsletter from Arts for Good Foundation
Welcome to the August 2021 newsletter from Arts For Good Foundation. At the beginning of the new school year, we have been working closely with schools to implement our pipeline projects. We are hoping to connect with more school decision makers who strongly believe in the values we are striving to deliver. We are also working very hard to overcome various obstacles in the implementation and working collaboratively to make our belief come true .

Best regards,

Educational Art Tour to Mythologies: Surrealism and Beyond at HKMOA

Our first educational tour to Mythologies: Surrealism and Beyond at HKMOA with five young art lovers was a great success.

We started the tour with a guided discussion of “what does it feel like to be dreaming”, and continued with a brief introduction to the historical context of the First World War. Through storytelling based on four Greek myths, we successfully helped them to connect with and imagine people's lives during the war.

By introducing a few techniques the artists used to create surrealism art,  we encouraged them to explore their own unconscious minds, dare to dream and to create. They were particularly fascinated by “automatic drawing”, and used the technique to create their own works and share their own stories.

We aim to make "surrealism" relevant to their lives, help them to look at art by imagining other people’s lives, and more importantly, to explore their visual thinking skills, and to interpret the artworks to uncover deeper meaning.

We are so delighted to facilitate learning through storytelling, triggering their curiosity using questions, problems and scenarios, rather than just facts.

Written Warp - Community Engagement Art

Our community engagement art project "Written Warp" has finally completed. With special thanks to all our supporters, we are delighted to share our video. We are also looking forward to seeing many of you at the Mills on 3rd Oct 2021 to celebrate with us.

With continuous and generous venue support from The Mills, we are planning our next contemporary textile art project, which is scheduled from 27th Dec 2021 to 3rd Jan 2022 at The Mills. We are currently seeking a textile artist to collaborate with us, to continue to deliver our social mission of fostering social inclusion among younger generations through the soft power of arts.

New Collaboration With HKU

We are delighted to start the ground work for our new collaboration with the Centre of Development and Resources for Students, CEDARS, at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). With this pilot collaboration, we are bringing Arts for Good Leadership opportunities to the students at HKU, and giving them another new opportunity to earn outside-classroom-credit.

This collaboration with CEDARS will bring new manpower to our programmes. More importantly, it will benefit HKU students, secondary students, and upper primary students with various soft skills.

With this collaboration, we are one small step closer to our blue print of building a student-led art community in Hong Kong.

Founder's Interview with Lim Loges & Masters

Thank you very much for the support from Lim Loges & Masters. Through the conversation with their Marketing Director Peta Delahunty, we are hoping to bring more attentions from the business sector to the value-driven work we do, and the community impact we are making for the future of Hong Kong. Stay tuned with our LinkedIn updates.

Pipeline Projects

We are very grateful for the support of decision makers and educators at a number of international and local schools. We are very excited to further execute our pipeline projects. We continue to work collaboratively with schools to overcome various obstacles under pandemic restrictions, and are deeply grateful for all the support and connections on this journey.
