Educational Art Tour to Mythologies: Surrealism and Beyond at HKMOA
Our first educational tour to Mythologies: Surrealism and Beyond at HKMOA with five young art lovers was a great success.
We started the tour with a guided discussion of “what does it feel like to be dreaming”, and continued with a brief introduction to the historical context of the First World War. Through storytelling based on four Greek myths, we successfully helped them to connect with and imagine people's lives during the war.
By introducing a few techniques the artists used to create surrealism art, we encouraged them to explore their own unconscious minds, dare to dream and to create. They were particularly fascinated by “automatic drawing”, and used the technique to create their own works and share their own stories.
We aim to make "surrealism" relevant to their lives, help them to look at art by imagining other people’s lives, and more importantly, to explore their visual thinking skills, and to interpret the artworks to uncover deeper meaning.
We are so delighted to facilitate learning through storytelling, triggering their curiosity using questions, problems and scenarios, rather than just facts.
